Brunswick’s Shop Second Saturday: Trains & Tunes
Shop Second Saturday is proud to have partnered with the Amtrak Downeaster and the Brunswick Downtown Association to promote the Brunswick Maine Street on June’s Second Saturday the 11th. Activities include a nationally traveling museum train by Amtrak, kid’s activities, a free music concert featuring two Nashville-based singer songwriters sponsored by Broadcast Music Inc (BMI), and deals from your favorite Maine merchants.
The Amtrak Exhibit Train will be open at the Brunswick Station from 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm. All aboard! The events are free, including: a self-guided tour where you can see Amtrak’s past such as vintage ads, menus, employee attire, and other memorabilia (as far back as 1971 when Amtrak was founded), plus children can play with toy trains, color and maneuver workable train signals and answer trivia. Interested visitors can plan to commute to the event via the Downeaster arriving in Brunswick at 12:30pm.
What’s a town event without any music? At 3pm on the Town Green, two nationally recognized singer songwriters based in Nashville will be coming to Maine for the Brunswick S2S event! Dave Pahanish will be performing; he has written songs including Keith Urban's "Without You", Toby Keith's "American Ride", and Jimmy Wayne's "Do you Believe Me Now", along with many others. He's a 2 year veteran of the Country Throwdown Tour and has performed alongside greats such as Willie Nelson, Eric Church, Little Big Town, and Montgomery Gentry! In Brunswick, Dave will be singing alongside gritty, intimate, and soulful artist Hugh Mitchell, who has just recorded his sophomore album which is both orchestral and Southern.
Brunswick Downtown Association will be working with their retail members to promote Shop Second Saturday and create exclusive offers and deals for Saturday only. Look for one-day-only in-store events, percentages off, BOGO’s and more! See coupon sheet for a sneak peek at some of the offers.
Want to see and hear more? Reny’s will also be hosting an in-store concert at their Portland Congress Street location mid-Morning on Saturday. Plus, Dave and Hugh will be the opening performance Friday night in Freeport at 5pm near the Hilton Garden Inn for the Prelude in the Park.
Mark your calendars!
